Sandy Island is a tiny natural cay off Sandy Ground Beach in Anguilla, widely regarded as one of the most beautiful places on earth. The solar-powered island runs a celebrated beach bar and restaurant that has become a bucket-list experience for visitors from around the world. The official site describes it as the Caribbean best beach bar and restaurant in the middle of the ocean, voted one of the top five beach bars in the Caribbean. Access is by sea shuttle only (boats named Happiness, Bliss, Joy, and Euphoria) from the Sandy Ground Beach pier, $40 USD per person round trip. Open daily November through August from 10am; open by group reservation only in September and October. The menu features fresh-caught Anguillan lobster, crayfish, shrimp, snapper, mahi mahi, grouper, and BBQ meats. Signature dishes include Grilled Lobster Sandy Island Style with coconut and ginger sauce, Crazy for Crayfish, and Drunken Coconut Shrimp. Combinations and platters for two include the Triple Lobster Sampler, Fisherman Platter, Captain Platter, and Mermaid Platter. The bar serves the famous Jo Jo Rum Punch, tropical cocktails, frozen drinks, and an impressive wine list. A 15% service charge is added to all checks. MasterCard and VISA accepted with a 5% surcharge; cash recommended. Sun loungers available at $5 with lunch or $10 without. Live music and DJ from approximately 2pm on many days. Private events available year-round including destination weddings. Celebrity visitors have included Beyonce and Jay-Z, John Legend, Michael Jordan, and many more.

Private yachts and charter boats can use designated mooring area. Dinghy access via channel markers on NW side. All visiting vessels must check in with Customs and Marine Office in Sandy Ground.

Walk-ins welcomed as beach walkers and drifters. September and October open by group reservation only. Order food early on arrival as the small crew takes time to cook.
Best Timing
Midday on weekends and peak season can be very busy. The small crew can only cook so much at once. Arrive early, order food immediately on arrival, and allow time before expecting your meal. Mega yachts and celebrity visitors frequent Sandy Island.
