Picante BWI is Anguillas first and most enduring Mexican restaurant, opened in January 2004 by Californians Theron and Chloe Loizos and celebrating more than 20 years of operation. Situated in the West End on Albert Hughes Drive just past the Aurora Anguilla entrance, Picante is described as a Caribbean taqueria specializing in innovative Mexican cuisine. The restaurant is designed in a modern, Mexican style with colorful murals, festive decor, plenty of seating including a wraparound bar, high tables, benches, and an upper-level bar terrace. A small boutique at the entrance sells Picante and Anguilla souvenirs. The menu covers all the Tex-Mex and Mexican favorites: the signature Picante Taco (house specialty with hard shell inside soft shell, layered with guacamole, sour cream, and refried beans), regular tacos with chicken, ground beef, steak, or fish, quesadillas (flour or corn tortilla with cheese, vegetable, chicken, or steak, served with guac, sour cream, and salsa fresca), burritos (regular, mini, super, and the grilled chipotle prawn burrito with black beans, mango salsa, and chipotle aioli), chimichanga, and sizzling fajitas. Starters include the famous spinach and artichoke dip, grilled chili-queso corn on the cob, chipotle riblettes and chicken wings, chorizo con queso, and spicy fried calamari. Mains include the brick chicken, mahi-mahi fajitas, and the celebrated seafood enchiladas with crab, prawn, and lobster in seafood bisque sauce. The bar is anchored by the legendary margarita in classic lime, passionfruit, jalapeno, guava, and seasonal flavors -- available by the glass or pitcher. A full tequila bar includes Clase Azul. Dinner only. Closed Tuesdays. Reservations essential in peak season. TripAdvisor: 4.5/5 from 785 reviews, ranked in the top 10 of West End Village restaurants. Note: Picante is transitioning to a new location as of 2026 -- confirm current address before visiting.

Reservations
Reservations strongly recommended especially in peak season November through April -- by 7pm there are often no tables available. Book via picantebwi.com/reservations, OpenTable (Picante Caribbean Taqueria), or call ahead. Walk-ins welcome but a wait is likely in high season.
Best Timing
Peak season November through April is extremely busy. By 7pm the restaurant is typically full. Arrive early or book in advance. Tuesday is closed. Post-beach dinner crowd from West End hotels is heaviest on weekends.
