Richardson's Car Rental Agency
About the agency
Richardson''s Car Rental Agency is a woman-owned, second-generation family business run by Sandra D. Richardson. It is worth understanding what it actually is before you compare it on price, because it is not really a car rental counter. It is a concierge service that happens to arrive in a car, and that shapes everything about how it works. Delivery, not collection. There is no queue to join and no shuttle to wait for. Richardson''s delivers door to door from any port of entry, including Blowing Point ferry terminal and Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport, and to resorts and villas anywhere on the island. Travellers who have used them describe the car simply waiting in the car park at Blowing Point, ready to drive off in. For the large share of visitors who arrive by boat from Marigot or from SXM rather than by air, that removes the problem that catches most first-timers out, which is that the ferry terminal and the airport sit on opposite coasts and a car listed as airport pickup is not a car waiting at the ferry. The fleet has a personality. Most rental fleets on this island are a spreadsheet: economy, compact, midsize, SUV. This one is not. There is a Ford Mustang convertible, two doors, fully loaded, with reclining seats, and it is the only named convertible in this directory. The Honda CRV comes with leather and a sunroof. The Suzuki XL7 exists in two versions and they distinguish between them, one in cloth and one with leather and a sunroof, which is a level of care about interiors that no other operator here bothers to express. Alongside those sit a Hyundai Sonata, Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra for sedans, a Suzuki Vitara, a Hyundai Santa Fe seating seven to eight, Jeep Wrangler convertibles, and a twelve-seat van that is among the largest vehicles available anywhere on Anguilla. Linen or leather interiors are offered depending on what you pick. The concierge part. Meet and greet on arrival, villa and resort reservations, boat transfers, dinner reservations, snorkelling bookings, and guided island tours. They also run The Little Bamboo, a villa on the island. If your idea of a good holiday is having one person who knows the island handle the moving parts, that is what is on offer here, and it is a genuinely different product from renting a Corolla and working it out yourself. Sandra was a nominee for Anguilla Leading Independent Car Rental Company at the World Travel Awards in 2014. What to expect on price. Rates are not published. You submit an enquiry through their reservation form or contact Sandra directly by phone, WhatsApp or email, and she quotes. That is normal for the independent operators here and it is often where the better prices live, but the work is on you. Ask for the daily and weekly rate, whether insurance and collision damage waiver are separate daily charges, whether the quote includes the 13 percent GST, and what happens about fuel, and get all of it in writing before you travel. Whether the concierge extras cost anything is worth asking too rather than assuming, one way or the other.
