TRAVEL ADVISORY
SPIRIT AIRLINES HAS CEASED OPERATIONS – WHAT TRAVELLERS NEED TO KNOW
Anguilla Ferry Times wishes to inform all travellers, particularly those using the Blowing Point – Marigot ferry route in connection with onward flights, that Spirit Airlines has cancelled all flights effective immediately.
This advisory is especially important for passengers who planned to travel from Anguilla to St. Maarten/St. Martin by ferry before connecting through Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM). If you had a Spirit Airlines flight booked from SXM or another regional airport, that flight should be treated as cancelled unless you receive confirmed updated instructions from your booking provider.
Spirit Cancellation Notice
A cancellation notice from Spirit states that all Spirit flights have been cancelled effective immediately. Guests with previously confirmed Spirit tickets are advised not to go to the airport.
The notice also states that Spirit is not able to rebook travellers on another airline. Flights purchased directly through Spirit with a credit or debit card are expected to be automatically refunded to the original form of payment.
Travellers should carefully review any cancellation email received from Spirit and visit Spirit's restructuring information site for the latest wind-down details.
What This Means for Ferry Travellers
Many travellers cross from Anguilla to St. Maarten/St. Martin via the Blowing Point ferry to connect with flights at Princess Juliana International Airport. If your onward flight was with Spirit Airlines, please make alternative arrangements immediately before travelling to the ferry terminal or airport.
Recommended Steps
- Do not go to the airport for a cancelled Spirit flight. 2. Contact your travel agent, booking platform, or credit card provider if you need help confirming your refund or rebooking options. 3. Rebook with an alternative airline as soon as possible if your trip still needs to continue. 4. Check your email carefully for cancellation and refund instructions. 5. If you have travel insurance, contact your provider to confirm whether the disruption is covered.
Alternative Airlines Serving the Region
Travellers may wish to check alternative carriers serving SXM and nearby regional hubs, including American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta, United, Winair, and other regional operators. Availability may change quickly, so passengers should confirm directly with airlines or trusted booking platforms.
Ferry Schedule Reminder
The Blowing Point – Marigot ferry continues to operate on its regular schedule. Departures from Blowing Point are currently listed as 7:30AM, 8:30AM, 9:30AM, 10:30AM, 11:30AM, 12:30PM, 2:00PM, 3:30PM, 4:30PM, and 5:15PM.
Travellers rebooking through SXM should allow extra time, as demand for remaining airline seats may be high.
Anguilla Ferry Times will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
END.
