Common questions about Anguilla's best beaches.
Shoal Bay East is the most consistently acclaimed — it appears on international best-beaches lists for its long stretch of powdery white sand and vivid turquoise water. Meads Bay is the strongest runner-up, with calmer surf, excellent restaurants along the shore, and a more resort-centric atmosphere. For seclusion, Little Bay (accessible only by boat or a rope descent) is in a category of its own.
Anguilla's beaches are widely regarded as some of the finest in the entire Caribbean. The sand is exceptionally fine and bright white, the water is clear and calm on the south coast, and the beaches are notably uncrowded compared to St. Barths, Turks & Caicos, or Barbados. The lack of mass tourism means even the most famous beaches rarely feel packed.
Rarely — even during peak season (December–April). Anguilla's small visitor numbers relative to the number and length of its beaches mean you can almost always find space. Shoal Bay East and Meads Bay are the busiest, but 'busy' by Anguilla standards would be considered uncrowded on almost any other Caribbean island.
Beach conditions are excellent year-round, but December through May offers the most reliably calm seas and clear skies. June through November is the Atlantic hurricane season, though most storms pass north or south of Anguilla. Shoulder months (late April–June and October–November) combine good weather with lower prices and fewer visitors.
